HOUSTON (April 18, 2025) – Houston Dynamo FC return to Shell Energy Stadium to host the Colorado Rapids on Saturday, April 19, with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT. The matchup kicks off a two-match homestand, and fans can secure tickets to all Dynamo home matches HERE.

In their most recent matchup last season, the Dynamo earned a 3-1 home victory behind goals from forward Amine Bassi, midfielder Sebastian Kowalczyk and former Dynamo midfielder Latif Blessing. Houston is unbeaten in their previous six matches versus Colorado, outscoring the Rapids 11-4 over that stretch, and hold an 8-6-6 (WLD) record over the Western Conference opponents at Shell Energy Stadium.

The Club will also host Space City Night, presented by ConocoPhillips, on Saturday night where fans can look forward to a Space City scarf gate giveaway and activities in partnership with the Johnson Space Center, including lunar robotics, postcards to space, space boots, rocket models, space-themed photo booth and more. Additional information regarding the theme night is available HERE.

The Dynamo are coming off a 1-1 road draw versus the LA Galaxy last weekend that saw forward Ezequiel Ponce score his second goal of the season and Bassi record his first assist of the season. Notably, the occasion marked head coach Ben Olsen’s 100th match in charge of the Dynamo in all competitions, making him just the third coach in Club history to reach that milestone (Dominic Kinnear and Wilmer Cabrera).

Saturday’s fixture at Shell Energy Stadium could mark Kowalczyk’s 50th MLS regular season appearance, while midfielder Nico Lodeiro could potentially make his 200th MLS regular season start.

The Rapids enter Saturday’s match having won four of their previous five matches, including a 3-2 home victory against San Diego FC last weekend at DICK’S Sporting Goods Park. Colorado took the lead in the first half with a penalty kick from Đorđe Mihailović before extending their lead with goals from Darren Yapi and Rafael Navarro. The Rapids currently sit fifth in the Western Conference with 14 points and a 4-2-2 (WLD) record.

Houston and Colorado met twice last season, and in addition to the 3-1 home victory mentioned above, the Dynamo also earned a 1-0 road victory over the Rapids earlier in the year behind a late winner from former Dynamo defender Brad Smith.

Last week, the Dynamo announced the signing of veteran goalkeeper Jonathan Bond from Watford FC in England. The shot stopper joins the Dynamo after making 214 appearances in all competitions across his career in England and the United States, after stints with several English clubs, including Watford FC, Reading FC and West Bromwich Albion, while starting for three seasons with the LA Galaxy in Major League Soccer (2021-23). In his second season with the team, Bond helped lead Los Angeles to the 2022 MLS Cup Playoffs with a fourth place Western Conference finish and a run to the Conference Semifinals. He was named the Galaxy’s Defender of the Year that season after earning eight clean sheets and being one of six goalkeepers in MLS to appear in all 34 regular season matches.

On Thursday, Houston’s first match up of the 2025 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup was confirmed, as the Dynamo drew Phoenix Rising FC from the USL Championship. The two sides will face off on Wednesday, May 7, with kickoff scheduled for 9:00 p.m. CT at Phoenix Rising Soccer Stadium. Fans can watch the match live via Paramount+ & CBS Sports Network.

The Dynamo continue their two-match homestand versus in-state rivals Austin FC on Saturday, April 26 at Shell Energy Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT. Fans can secure their tickets for all Dynamo home matches HERE.
