Houston Dash Look to Extend Unbeaten Streak as they Host Seattle Reign FC on Sunday

Preview16x9

HOUSTON (Aug. 23, 2025) - The Houston Dash return to Shell Energy Stadium on Sunday, Aug. 24 to host Seattle Reign FC. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT and the Dash enter the match on a two-game winning streak after a last-gasp triumph over NJ/NY Gotham FC on Sunday evening. The team has earned seven points and posted a 2-0-1 (WLD) record since league play resumed on Aug. 2. Tickets for Sunday’s match are available on HoustonDash.com.

The Dash have now claimed 11 points following a deficit this season and lead the league in that category. The team added three more points to that tally on Sunday evening with a dramatic victory in New Jersey with a last-minute goal from Michelle Alozie and heavy pressure from Kiki Van Zanten that led to an own goal.

Midfielder Sarah Puntigam recorded her first goal contribution of the season on Sunday with an assist on Houston’s game-winner. Entering late in the second half, she continued a trend for the Dash: since league play resumed on Aug. 2, three of the team’s five goals have come from substitutes. The team has scored six goals via substitutes this season, the most of any team in the league according to Opta.

Defensively, the Dash will be tasked with containing an offense that scored three goals in their last outing. Houston will also search for their third clean sheet of the season and their first since earning three points on the road against Seattle on May 11. Midfielder Maggie Graham scored the lone goal in that match to secure Houston’s third victory of the season. The teams split the regular season series in 2024 with each team winning at home.

Houston will be without three players following an active stretch in the transfer market. The team announced earlier this week that defenders Rebeca and Zoe Matthews would join DUX Logroño in Spain on loan through June 2026. Additionally, the team announced a trade with Boston Legacy FC for midfielder Barbara Olivieri. The team acquired $100,000 in intra-league transfer funds and the transaction includes an additional $65,000 in performance-based incentives. The secondary transfer window closes on Monday, Aug. 25.

Seattle earned a point on Monday evening after they conceded three goals in the second half against Chicago Stars FC. Jess Fishlock scored in the opening minutes to give Seattle an early lead followed by goals from Jordyn Huitema and Emeri Adames. Despite the sizeable lead the Reign conceded three goals in the final stretch of the match. That stretch culminated with a goal from Chicago goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher in stoppage time. Seattle is searching for their second victory since league play resumed earlier this month. Laura Harvey’s squad returned to league play with a 2-0 triumph at home over Angel City FC. Seattle fell to Portland Thorns FC on Aug. 10 and split the points with Chicago on Monday.

The Dash sit in 10th place in the league table, just two points back of the eighth and final playoff spot. A win on Sunday would surpass last season’s total and move Houston closer to the top half of the standings. With three of their next four matches on the road, the Dash will look to collect crucial points away from home to fuel their playoff push.

Houston begins that three-game road trip in Kentucky against Racing Louisville FC on Friday, Aug. 29 and returns to Shell Energy Stadium on Friday, Sept. 19 to host Chicago Stars FC. Tickets for that match and all Dash matches are available at HoustonDash.com.
