HOUSTON (May 3, 2025) – Houston Dynamo 2 hit the road this weekend to face St. Louis CITY2 on Sunday, May 4 at Energizer Park, with kickoff scheduled for 4:00 p.m. CT. This is the first of three meetings this season and the first of two matches between both sides in St. Louis. Dynamo 2 fans can tune in to the live action via MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
Notably, goalkeeper Pedro Cruz was named the MLS NEXT Pro Goalkeeper of the Month for April after helping lead the team to a three-game unbeaten streak. The Brazilian shot stopper recorded 14 saves, posted 87.5 save percentage and allowed just two goals during the month. He also helped the team earn their first clean sheet of the season behind six saves in a 1-0 victory over LAFC2 on April 6. Notably, Cruz is tied for second in the league with 24 saves.
Dynamo Dos closed out April with a third consecutive victory in a 2-1 home victory over in-state rivals Austin FC II in a Texas Showdown at SaberCats Stadium. Forward Exon Arzú netted his third goal of the season in the 23rd minute, while Dynamo Academy midfielder Enrique Correa added his second of the year in the 77th minute.
Dos currently sit at the top of the Western Conference standings with 15 points and a 5-2-0 (WLD) record, while also ranking fourth in the league for most goals scored (15) this season.
St. Louis heads into Sunday’s fixture looking to snap a three-game losing streak after falling 4-1 to Tacoma Defiance to close out April. Matteo Kidd was the team’s lone scorer, finding the back of the net in the 88th minute. They currently sit seventh in the Western Conference with 11 points and a 3-3-1 (WLD) record. Mykhi Joyner leads the attack with two goals on the season.
Like last season, the two sides will meet three times this year, with Dynamo 2 visiting St. Louis for two of those matches. The all-time series is tied at three wins apiece, while the two teams drew in their other matchup. In 2024, Dos and St. Louis finished with one win, one loss and one draw against each other.
Their most recent matchup came in August last season, when Dynamo 2 claimed two points by defeating St. Louis in a penalty shootout. Former Dynamo goalkeeper Xavier Valdez made a key save during the shootout before former first team Dynamo player Tate Schmitt secured the victory with the fourth and final penalty kick of the night. Current first team forward Gabe Segal scored in regulation with a free kick from nearly 40 yards out.
