HOUSTON (April 23, 2025) – Houston Dynamo 2 signed attacker Joshua Bolma to an MLS NEXT Pro contract for 2025, the team announced today.

“Josh brings invaluable MLS NEXT Pro experience that will allow him to be an effective leader within our group, help set a good professional standard for our young players both on and off the field and add to the team’s depth,” said Dynamo Assistant General Manager Nick Kowba. “His attacking versatility and familiarity with Marcelo Santos, having spent two seasons together in New England, will help him hit the ground running. We look forward to Josh making his Dynamo Dos debut as we continue to build off a positive start.”

Bolma joins Dynamo Dos from the New England Revolution, where he spent the majority of the 2024 and 2023 season with the club’s MLS NEXT Pro team, being coached by current Dynamo 2 head coach Marcelo Santos. Santos, who spent seven years in New England and became an assistant coach for Revolution II in 2023, joined Houston ahead of the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro season.

Bolma has featured in 43 MLS NEXT Pro matches, while netting three goals and providing three assists. Notably, he helped Revolution II earn their most points and wins in 2023 to clinch the team’s first ever MLS NEXT Pro playoff appearance, where he started in two postseason matches.

With the Revs’ first team, the 22-year-old made three appearances in 2023. Bolma made his first team debut in April 2023 in a 2-1 U.S. Open Cup victory over Hartford Athletic, and played again for the first team in cup action versus Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC. The attacker made his MLS debut as a substitute in July 2023 in a 4-0 home victory over D.C. United.

Bolma was signed to the Generation adidas Class of 2023 and drafted by the Revs with the fourth overall pick in the 2023 MLS SuperDraft. The attacker had an impressive collegiate career at the University of Maryland, finishing with six goals and 12 assists in 38 appearances. He earned multiple accolades, including the 2021 Big Ten Freshman of the Year and being selected to the 2021 Big Ten All-Freshman Team. Additionally, Bolma was the fourth player in Terrapin’s history to be named to the All-Big Ten First Team on two occasions. Notably, he played a key role in leading Maryland to the 2022 Big Ten regular season title and a second consecutive NCAA Tournament bid.
