HOUSTON (June 5, 2025) – Houston Dynamo 2 signed Academy product and forward David Garcia to a two-year MLS NEXT Pro contract, the Club announced today.
Garcia is the seventh Dynamo Academy player in Club history to sign a professional contract with Dynamo 2. Other players include Roberto “Beto” Avila, Joyner Castillo, Diego Gonzalez, Mujeeb Murana, Jathan Juarez and Sebastian Rodriguez.
"David is a talented young striker whose character has made a positive influence on our club since he joined the Dynamo Academy in 2021 from Elite FC, in the heart of Memorial in Houston,” said Dynamo Assistant General Manager Nick Kowba. “David earned his professional debut with Dynamo 2 last year after demonstrating consistent work ethic since he joined the club at the U-13 level. We are always proud to see a local player advance to the professional ranks in our club and we look forward to his continued development in Houston.”
Garcia is a regular in the youth Venezuelan national team pool, earning 25 caps across the U-15 and U-17 levels, including six appearances in the 2025 CONMEBOL Sudamericano Sub-17, where he helped the team reach the semifinals in April. The 17-year-old contributed an assist in a 3-0 victory over Chile to help secure third place in the tournament.
Additionally, Garcia was called up in May to join the Venezuelan U-17 National team in Argentina, where he scored two goals across five appearances in the Canteras de América tournament.
The Dynamo Academy product also made his mark in the 2024 CONMEBOL Sudamericano Sub-15, netting a brace in a 4-0 victory versus Ecuador during the group stage. Garcia was called up for his first training camp with Venezuela’s U-15 squad in July 2023 and made his debut for La Vinotinto on October 19 in an international friendly versus Uruguay.
Garcia joins Dynamo Dos directly from the Dynamo Academy, where he joined the U-13 team in January 2021 and helped the squad win the 2021 Dallas Cup with nine goals across five matches, including one in the final versus SoCal Elite FC. Over the past four years, the 17-year-old rose through the Academy ranks to represent other age groups at various tournaments, including at the 2023 Generation adidas Cup with the U-15 squad, where he helped the team reach the Round of 16, and the GA Cup the following year with the U-17 squad.
The attacker already featured for the Club’s MLS NEXT Pro team serval times last season, making his professional debut at the age of 15 versus LAFC2 on March 23. Notably, he was part of the 14 Dynamo Academy players who earned valuable minutes for Dynamo 2 during the 2024 campaign, with players born in 2007, 2008 and 2009 recording more minutes (6,828) than any team in MLS NEXT Pro, while qualifying for the postseason for the third consecutive year.
Since his professional debut, Garcia has made 15 appearances (two starts) for Dynamo 2, while scoring his first professional goal in a 2-0 victory versus in-state rivals Austin FC II on July 11, 2024.
